Look at me now....

In honor of the St. Paul Winter Carnival and its' annual Medalion Hunt, I thought I would join the fun and start a puzzler of my own. If you guys are too stumped, I will post more hints and pictures in the near future.

Can you guess what this item is? I'll give you some hints...

It can fit in the palm of your hand.
This item can be found in most homes.
If you know what your doing, it is not hard to find and replace this item.
I purchased this item at a hardware store.

OK, now it your chance to earn instant fame by correctly identifying this item. Are you up to the challenge?

Oh, and I should say this, too - for those of you who know her, it is considered cheating to ask my wife for help!

drain plug? something found in the toilet tank? the thingy that goes inside the shower head? a wedding gift?... I think we should each get our own little "clue packets", and get interviews with the witnesses that reside in your household..

Probably not, but as all we get is Minnesota news, I have been hearing a lot about it lately. It would be cool to see the ice castles and sculptures, though.

Any guesses on the object? Here is another hint:
Dani mentioned for Brady an appliance part and he is close... but it is not a knob.

It's a torque coupling for a 1/4 horsepower variable phase induction motor running at 2400 RPM and 2.3 amps. And it's pink.

Go back and check out Twaits' last post - he is really close.
Another hint, for those who are slow of brain:
think major appliance not found in the kitchen (at least not most kitchens).

Is it a part of your snowblower featured in your last post? That would be quite unfortunate!

Monday, January 29, 2007
Blogger the amazing VERN said...

It could be, if a snowblower is part of a major appliance found in most homes...
I keep my snowblower in the garage, and while I would classify it a precission, gas-operated power tool, I would not call it an "appliance".

OK, I'll let everyone know exactly what I was describing. It is a torque coupling for an electric motor on a WASHING MACHINE. And it's pink. Do I win anything other than a kick in the head?

Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Blogger TWaits said...

to be real exact, it's for the water pump...

Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Blogger the amazing VERN said...

Twaits, that answer was so close that I almost gave it to you, however, it is not a TORQUE coupling that runs the water pump - go back and look at my previous clue about repair men and I think you'll have it.

Oh, and my wash machine is white...

Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Blogger TWaits said...

if yours is beltless, then this would be for the direct drive gearbox thingy. otherwise it would go to the waterpump.
